Family members who have passed have been known to visit loved ones in the form of birds ... often cardinals.  In my case, my mother came to me in the form of a dove.  Shortly after she passed under hospice care at my house and her body was taken away by the funeral home, a dove tried to fly into my house.  It then flew up to the power line in front of my house and stayed there for several months.  Unlike most doves who travel in pairs, this dove was alone.  She comes back from time to time to visit & I'm pretty sure my neighbors think I'm a bit crazy because I always say hello to her when she's there.
